Impression Die Forging Process Closed Die Hot Forging

The Impression Die Forging Process is a type of hot forging that utilizes a specialized die to form the metal part. This process requires two sets of dies. A second set of dies is used for the final part. Each set is used for a different type of material and the final result is the same.

The Impression Die Forging Process uses a single cavity die to shape the metal part. The dies contain high pressure and a small amount of metal. The metal is heated in the die and is then poured into the workpiece. During the process, the pressures are so high that the hammer is forced to make contact repeatedly with the workpiece. This results in a small amount of excess material in the die cavities, or “flashing”. The flashing is stronger than the rest of the metal in the workpiece.

The Impression-Die-Forging Process involves two moving dies that cover the part. The lower die is the approximate shape of the final forged piece. The top one impacts the raw material and shapes it. The hammer die, on the other hand, is used to remold the finished product. Forging is a highly precise process that yields high-quality components.
