The process of casting impeller parts can be accomplished using a number of techniques. Investment casting is best suited for high-volume production of small items. In contrast, Metal Injection Moulding is suitable for smaller pieces that are not too complex. Furthermore, investment casting is the preferred choice due to its high-volume production capacity and complex design requirements. However, this type of casting is not right for large impellers, which require precision and dimensional accuracy.

A variety of materials are used to make impellers. They are usually located in the center of a rotating device to create flow and pressure. They can be axial, mixed flow, radial, or peripheral in nature. Their spinning causes high-pressure inside the pump housing, resulting in a fluid movement in the mechanism. Various power sources can be used to spin an impeller. They can be positioned inside the machine to increase pressure and flow.
